5 Foods You Only Find In Lahore
Assortment is the key when it comes to making sure that Lahore is all about good food. At Foodninja we have compiled some of the most rare things you only find in Lahore and chances are, you’re left craving for more. If you’re coming to Lahore then it’s my advice to take some memories with you and do yourself a favour by visiting at least one of these places. You wont regret it and the best part is that we make sure you’re not spending too much. When we say diverse, it’s not only directed to the food but also the prices since you can get food in Lahore ranging from free (at Data Darbar) to as expensive as one could go.
Nan Khatai at Khalifa
Located at Mochi Gate (which is one among the 13 gates of the Walled City), Khalifa Bakery is more than just Nan Khatai that tastes exceptionally good. It carries a sentimental value and has made it’s way as a symbol of Lahori Tradition. Though Nan Khatai is available at so many places but none can practically compete with the “Khalifa ki Nan Khatai”.

Hareesa being a variant of Haleem, there’s not much difference among the two. But when we come to the best Hareesa, you find it in Lahore. It’s the Amritsari Hareesa at Nisbat Road, Gawal Mandi. At this point I’d just add that you take anything to Gawal Mandi and it just starts tasting better because it’s where the Lahori food tradition originates from.

We’ve heard the term “Phajjay ke Paye”, but where do they originate from? Inside the Red Light areas of Lahore, Heera Mandi, you get to experience the Paye that are inevitably the best. Might I add that making it to these places can be a bit of a hassle but they’re completely worth it. After making a trip to this place, you’ll be one of the few to have actually tried the real Phajjay ke Paye.

Bashir Darul Mahi (Fish)
In listing the best food you only find in Lahore, here’s something for the fish lovers. Located at Mazang Chowk, it is the easiest to reach when you compare it to all other things included in the list. Their fish leaves us all craving for more than we can eat and who knew you’d find such good fish at a dhaba-like place and not at a five star cuisine.
